Miami Beach, South Beach & North Bay Village, Florida

Just over 15 minutes’ drive east from Port Miami and about 20 minutes’ drive east of Miami International Airport brings you to the barrier island which is home to Miami Beach and the southern area of Miami known as South Beach.

As you can imagine, the beaches here are the stars of the show.

However, there are many other things to do here some of which still incorporate the beach and the water.  You can find art installations on the beach or try your hand at kite surfing.

Miami Beach recently renovated their convention center and have welcomed tons of exhibits and shows including the annual Art Basel Miami Beach, a premier art showcase that is one of three held (Basel, Hong Kong, and Miami Beach.)

The Convention Center is also home to Miami Fashion Week, the Jeweler’s International Showcase, Florida Supercon, the Miami International Auto Show, and CruiseWorld 2020 to name a few.  There are also many internationally known festivals that are held at other locations such as the SOBEWFF (South Beach Wine and Food Festival) which attracts world renowned chefs and their fans, the ULTRA Music Festival, the South Beach Seafood Festival, and many others.

Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell, Cuba Gooding Jr., Martha Steward are just a few of the many who have been spotted here.

The Art Deco style is not the only architecture featured here.  Miami Beach has been hosting visitors for many decades so there is a lot of history built into this place.  The area also has its share of wealthy residents and visitors resulting in many high-end hotels and restaurants.  In addition, many films have shot iconic scenes here including the James Bond film, Goldfinger, which has scenes set at the Fontainebleau.

In addition, there are other historic homes that you can visit and many restaurants to try (including the infamous Joe’s Stone Crab).  There are so many things to do here so dust off the sand and go exploring!
