Key Biscayne, Florida

If you travel about 20 minutes’ drive south and east of Port Miami and about 30 minutes southeast from Miami International Airport, you’ll find the island village of Key Biscayne.  Located just across Biscayne Bay from Miami, Key Biscayne is home to current and past notables such as actor Brad Pitt, former President Richard Nixon (his “Florida White House”), singer and actor Cher, and actor Andy Garcia.

Water sports and activities are king here as you can imagine.  There are all types of boat tours as well as dolphin watching tours.  Kayaking, canoeing, wind surfing, paddle boarding, snorkeling and scuba diving are also readily available.

       

     

 

          

     

The island is split into three areas: Crandon Park to the north, the Village of Key Biscayne in the middle, and Bill Baggs Cape Florida National Park to the south.

Crandon Park was once park of the largest coconut plantation in the United States.  It features 2 miles of beach as well as a marina, a golf course, the Tennis Center at Crandon Park (site of the Lipton Tennis Championship until 2018), a family play area, picnic pavilions, and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center.

    

     

The Village of Key Biscayne features many restaurants and hotels to enjoy.  There is also the Village Green Park for families to play sports, have fun on the water splash pad, or just relax.

       

For a more natural Florida experience, head to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.  This park is great for fishing, kayaking, hiking trails, relaxing on the beach, and touring the historical lighthouse among other activities.
