SNG was pleased to provide “Joy on the Beach” Wheelchairs for two March events. The 8th Annual Boating & Beach Bash for People with Disabilities was held on Saturday, March 18th at Spanish River Park in Boca Raton. The day is the nation’s largest event for kids, adults and wounded warriors with special needs, their families and care givers.
The location in Palm Beach County is a perfect setting for the day with access to the Atlantic Ocean via tunnel to the east and the Intracoastal Waterway towards the north-side of the park for boat rides. Picnic areas, covered shelters, walkways and playgrounds are located throughout. The county has the highest number of those with disabilities in the nation at 25% of the population.
The Beach Wheelchairs allowed individuals at the Boating & Beach Bash as well as for children at Best Day Foundation’s Pompano Beach event who struggle each day with unimaginable challenges the opportunity to experience the beach’s sand and the ocean’s refreshing water – some for the first time ever. Best Day Foundation is a volunteer organization which aids children with special needs build confidence and self-esteem through safe and fun adventure activities. Best Day currently has chapters serving Florida, New Jersey, California as well as the Chesapeake Bay Chapter which services Southern Virginia and the Northern Carolinas. The two-day Pompano Beach event was held on March 25th and 26th on the city’s public beach and pier.
The J.O.B. Chairs are available for rental to passengers sailing on cruise ships or those with land-only vacations. The Beach Wheelchairs are easy to roll on the beach’s sand and into the open water. Special Needs Group was once again honored to participate in and to be able to provide equipment for two such worthwhile and rewarding events.
