Miami Gardens, Florida

The city of Miami Gardens is located about 30 minutes’ drive north and slightly east of the Miami International Airport and about 20 minutes north and slightly west of Port Miami.  Sports are the name of the game here, particularly football, tennis, and golf.  There’s also a horse race track and casino for those that prefer a little gaming.

Miami Gardens is home to the Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL Miami Dolphins play.  Since the 2019 debut of the stadium’s tennis center, it’s also become home to the Miami Open.  In addition, the stadium hosts all manner of concerts from Metallica to Taylor Swift.  The annual collegiate Orange Bowl game as well as the University of Miami Hurricanes games are held here as well.

If golf is more to your liking, check out TopGolf.  This venue takes golf to another level by providing the standard driving range, but also incorporating games, drinks, and food.  Open day and night, it’s a great place for bachelor and bachelorette parties, corporate groups, families and friends.

Historic Calder Race Course held its first thoroughbred horse race in 1971 and in 2010 the casino was added.  The venue then became known as Calder Casino and Race Course.  Althought Calder’s thoroughbred meet is now run at Gulfstream Park, the Casino is still open for “live” poker action along with a full floor of slot machines.
