Cork, Ireland

The city of Cork offers a vast array of things to do and see.  You can listen to music in a reclaimed stone church, shop for good at the market that serves many of the local restaurants or get a retail fix shopping for other heart’s desires.  Cork Airport is the second largest in the Republic of Ireland and, of course, Cork Port is the landing spot for major cruise ships.

Situated a short distance outside of Cork is one of the most famous Irish landmarks, the Blarney Castle which is home to the Blarney Stone.  Kissing the Blarney Stone is said to give the kisser the gift of gab.

Cork is also home to the Fota Wildlife Park, where animals can be seen in more naturally-designed habitats.

Take some time to explore the English Market which supplies produce and other goods to the leading restaurants in the area.  Browse for meat, seafood, cheeses, and other delicacies.  You can also find traditional Irish items here like blood sausage.

To enjoy music and movies in an unusual setting like a reclaimed church, take in a performance at Triskel Art Center.
