New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans, an economic and commercial hub for the Gulf Coast, located on the Mississippi River, serves as a top destination. At only 15-20 minutes from the New Orleans Port Terminal and Louis Armstrong International Airport, this is the next destination you should have on your list. Nicknamed the “Big Easy”, New Orleans is known for its exciting nightlife, spicy cuisine, and live music. Its culture is well-known, and its Mardi Gras celebration speaks for itself.

If you’re looking for costumes, bead-throwing, parades, masquerade balls, live music, and street parties, then the Mardi Gras festival is your next stop. It traces back to the medieval Europe in the 17th and 18th century. This celebration lasts for about 2 weeks, with approximately 1.4 million attendees each year!

New Orleans has something for everyone to do, from partying to enjoying the beautiful views at Jackson Square, a historic park in the French Quarter. This National Historic Landmark has events like tours of the St. Louis Cathedral, along with artists dispersed throughout the park. Locals come on the weekends to purchase painting and other artwork, while visitors and tourists come in hope of purchasing a memorable souvenir.

The French Market is a flea market spanning about six blocks, filled with vendors and activities for everyone to enjoy. There are individual vendors selling different types of fresh foods and raw seafood, while cafes and bars sell foods like crawfish and desserts. The French Market also hosts annual events like the French Market Tomato Festival, along with free musical events.
